La Joueuse de Tympanon is an automaton created in Germany in 1772 for the Queen, Marie-Antoinette. The player is 18 inches tall and can play eight different tunes. The automaton had been left damaged after the French Revolution. It was fully restored by Robert-Houdin in 1864.
